The Regional Sport and RecreationStrategy is under way..

Sport and recreation is an integral and important part of our coastal lifestyle. It contributes to the liveability of our region
and the health and wellbeing of the community. It is important that we plan to meet the sport and recreation needs of the existing and future population while ensuring valuable resources are well managed and protected for future generations.

Consultants Strategic Leisure Group have been engaged to assist in preparing a comprehensive Regional Sport and Recreation Strategy to help guide Council planning to 2025. The strategy will focus on sport and active recreation activities that require legitimate/formal venues.

Make a splash - get involved in the Regional Aquatics Strategy

Sunshine Coast Regional is preparing a Regional Aquatics Strategy.

The Strategy is intended to provide Council with a clear and achievable direction for ‘built aquatic facilities and services’ (i.e. excluding natural waterways like rivers and beaches) to address community needs over the next 15 years.

Strategic Leisure Group have been engaged to assist in the preparation of the Strategy.  They will be reviewing the aquatic facility  and program needs of the entire Sunshine Coast Region, ranging from aquatic sports and leisure swimming, to preventative health and infant water familiarity.

Council wants the Strategy to ensure that maximum use is made of existing  aquatic facilities and programs; and to identify future developments that will increase and/or enhance community use and participation in aquatic sports and recreation.
